The story behind the name, Sheer Chemistry and why it matters this Mother's Day

With Mother's Day around the corner, I've been thinking about the women who inspired this brand — and why finding the perfect pair of nude tights matters more than people realise.

Sheer Chemistry was inspired by the many women in my life - one of them being my mum. And honestly, I don't think I tell this story enough.

When I first came up with the concept, I wanted the name of the brand to honour the women I admire - women who were living big, beautiful lives, travelling the world, and building careers on their own terms - women I never saw reflected in the fashion and beauty industry growing up. Women who spent years settling for tights that didn't match their skin tone, or giving up on nude tights altogether because nothing on the market came close.

So I called it Sheer Chemistry. Because that's exactly what it is.

You probably guessed the significance of the 'Sheer', but the 'Chemistry' - there's more to it than meets the eye. Not only does it represent the shade-matching process that goes into every pair of tights we make, I wanted it to illustrate the relationship you have with your mum, your sister, or your bestie. The women who get you. Who celebrate you for exactly who you are. Who support you through all of life's chapters — the big moments, and the voice on the phone when you're crashing out for the second time this week, wondering how on earth you'll do the thing. Trust me, we've all been there!

That's what this brand was built on. And that's what Mother's Day is all about.
